GOLDEN BEIGE - WIND UP WINDOWS & ONE TOUCH HOOD
Introduced in June 1962, the 3000 MkIIA (BJ7) marked the introduction of both wind up windows and a one touch hood to the Healey range. Luxury features intended to allow the Healey compete with it's American counterparts for the ever important export market. With a total build number of 6,113, the BJ7 accounts for less than 8.5% of the total Austin Healey production!
This 3000 MkIIA, having received a bare metal re-spray in 2021, is presented in the highly desirable colour Golden Beige Metallic, with its sparkling 72 spoke chrome wire wheels, twin Lucas Flamethrower driving lights and excellent chrome-work is a beautiful, bright, eye catching example.
The cockpit has been finished to a superb, high standard by McBride Auto Trimming, with its Merlot Red upholstery complemented by English carpets and the addition of a period correct Moto-Lita Derrington wood-rimmed steering wheel, finished with a contrasting, high quality, black fabric one touch hood.
Largely mechanically standard, the BJ7 has some useful reliability upgrades including a Scorcher electronic ignition, the addition of a power brake booster and duel fuel pumps which do not take away from the driveline's originality. This 3000 benefits from the fitment of factory optional overdrive, sound and heat deadening material and a Smith heater allowing for a more comfortable tourer all year round.
