CLASSIC GT WITH UPGRADES AND OVERDRIVE
On its release the MGB became an instant success. The path had been set for a series of cars which would continue in production for 18 years, selling over 500,000 examples. The Pininfarina styled MGB GT was released in 1965 with their GT hatchback offering many advantages including: reduced road noise, a weatherproof cabin, a much larger amount of usable storage room, rear seats and most importantly a lockable and secure cabin.
The Ivory coachwork of this MGB GT is set off by its sparkling chrome wire wheels complemented by the gleaming brightwork. The Blue interior features more comfortable, later style, reclining seats with the added safety of head restraints and inertia seatbelts, a period wood-rimmed steering wheel, an optional Smiths heater and the added luxury of a Slideaway vinyl sunroof.
The 'GT' drives well with the engine and gearbox providing good period performance in unmodified, standard specification, aside from the fitment of an extractor exhaust system, whilst the overdrive allows effortless highway cruising ability. MG Bs are renowned for their light and precise rack and pinion steering and this example is no different.
A good MGB GT like this one is a classic British sporting coupe that is comfortable and reliable enough for you to enjoy it all year round and will take you to your favourite coffee spot, for a spirited drive through the hills or even that holiday on the coast.
