DAMASK DELIGHT
On its release the MGB became an instant success. The path had been set for a series of cars which would continue in production for 18 years, selling over 500,000 examples. The Pininfarina styled MGB GT was released in 1965 with their GT hatchback offering many advantages including: reduced road noise, a weatherproof cabin, a much larger amount of usable storage room, rear seats and most importantly a lockable and secure cabin.
The clean lines of this shiny Damask (Burgundy) MGB GT is complemented by its gleaming brightwork. The Black interior features a later style dashboard with flow through dash vents from the 1972 model year, inertia seat-belts, a period wood-rimmed steering wheel, optional Smiths heater and an Alpine CD Tuner fitted for your entertainment.
The 'GT' drives well with the engine and all synchromesh gearbox providing good period performance. Sensible upgrades include a brake booster, electronic ignition, spin-on oil filter, aluminium radiator and thematic fans. MG Bs are renowned for their light and precise rack and pinion steering and this example is no different.
A good MGB GT like this one is a classic British sporting coupe that is comfortable and reliable enough for you to enjoy it all year round and will take you to your favourite coffee spot, for a spirited drive through the hills or even that holiday on the coast.
