LAST OF THE MK2 SERIES
The iconic Mk2 is Jaguar's Archetype Sports Sedan with its enduring shape, style and performance. Released in 1957 with production continuing until 1967, a total of 83,976 examples were produced, including 2.4L, 3.4L and 3.8L variants all available with either automatic or manual transmissions. Towards the end of their production life the Mk2 range was rationalised to the 240 and 340 with 2.4L and 3.4L engines respectively. These were effectively a continuation model of the Mk2 with some 2,788 produced between 1967 and 1969 before the introduction of the new XJ6 series.
Finished in classic, Old English White with a Red Ambla interior in excellent condition, this Jaguar 340 automatic with chrome wire wheels still ticks all of the boxes for classic style.
Jaguars of this vintage are a delight to behold from the drivers seat featuring a classically styled wooden instrument panel with matching door cappings and surrounds, a set of 110mm Smiths speedometer and tachometer directly in front of the driver, to the left of the driver is the centre control panel housing a row of Smiths 50mm minor gauges, below which sit an impressive row of toggle switches, just like the 340s sister, the iconic E-Type. The only deviation from standard in this example is the fitment of a more modern Bluetooth enabled digital tuner, a battery isolator and a pair of well styled cup holders.
Under the bonnet, this 340 is quite mechanically standard, with its Jaguar twin overhead cam six cylinder engine, in 3.4 litre guise, equipped with a set of twin 1¾ SU carburettors. Jaguar optional equipment includes both hydraulic power steering and a Smiths heater, providing a far more comfortable drive.
This 340 drives and performs well with the 3.4L straight six paired to the automatic gearbox and is sure to delight its new owner. whether it be a visit to your local coffee spot or a longer journey perhaps for a long weekend away.
