RESTORED RED ROADSTER
One of the most significant classic sports cars ever made, the TR2 was released at the London motor show in October 1952 and was greeted by enthusiasts world wide as a wonderful drivers sports car. 8,636 TR2s were produced and chassis TS4006 was the 5th Short Door Triumph TR2 built, driving off the production line on the 28th September 1954, for export to Melbourne Australia.
This TR2, finished in Signal Red with contrasting Camel interior and sparkling brightwork, received a comprehensive restoration from 1987-1994, and is accompanied with a photographic record.
The Triumph is largely standard with the exception a Hi Torque Starter Motor and extractors as well as wind deflector perspex mounted either side of the windscreen. Recent service works include a major overhaul of the brakes, new splined hubs front and rear as well as a set of new 60 spoke painted wire wheels.
Weather equipment consists of a cloth hood, sidescreens and full tonneau cover. A T-bar carriage key is used to release the boot and the trapdoor concealing the spare wheel, located in a compartment in the tail.
The 2 Litre 4 cylinder engine produces ample torque, mated to the four speed manual gearbox with overdrive on 4th, provides a British roadster experience with strong period performance.
